Lay Day was founded by two friends in Maine. In April 2024, we leased a 1,500 sq. ft. warehouse in Portland’s West Bayside neighborhood.

Since then, our primary focus has been sourcing and roasting the best coffee we can. In January of 2025, we took a trip down to Guatemala to meet farmers and source coffee directly. We roast on an old-school (baby blue) gas-powered machine. It is an all manual machine and we enjoy the ability to be connected with the roasting process in a world of automation.

Our roastery has evolved into a community space where we host a variety of events including yoga, food pop-ups, movie nights, and coffee cuppings. We will continue to offer more of these community focused events as we grow so check our Instagram or Events page for any new happenings.

We currently ship direct to customers throughout the US and partner with local cafés, restaurants, and retailers for their speciality coffee needs.

A Lay Day is your time to hit the beach, catch up with friends, unwind and recharge, or take care of the things that matter to you. However you spend your lay day, our coffee is here to go with it.
